This role is situated within the U.S. Department of the Interior, focusing on the management of commercial services.
Key Responsibilities
The duties associated with this position will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. The primary responsibilities include:
- Analyzing relevant laws, regulations, policies, and contract stipulations to gain insight into the regulatory framework that governs the management of commercial services.
- Conducting evaluations alongside others to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Engaging with commercial service providers on ongoing tasks to verify compliance with reporting requirements.
- Providing necessary information to both internal and external stakeholders upon request.
- Monitoring basic financial data related to contracts using established tracking methods.
Work Environment
This position is based in a unique and dynamic environment, offering a variety of community amenities including educational institutions, recreational facilities, and healthcare services. The community is compact, fostering a culture where many employees opt to walk or bike to their workplaces.
Housing Information
Employees with a Full Performance Level (FPL) of GS-09 or WG-8 and above may have the option to accept assigned housing or participate in the bidding process for housing. Those at GS-08 or WG-7 and below may also participate in the bidding system or opt for shared housing arrangements.
Employment Conditions
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Appointment is subject to a background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Compliance with the Selective Service Registration Act is required for male applicants.
- Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program is mandatory.
- A valid driver's license is necessary for operating a government or private vehicle as part of official duties.
- Uniform compliance with National Park Service standards is required, and a uniform allowance will be provided.
- Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- New federal employees must complete a one-year probationary period.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Relevant experience and education will be considered for eligibility.
Experience should reflect responsibilities comparable to the GS-5 grade level in federal service, including tasks such as:
- Assisting in the development of plans for commercial services.
- Participating in evaluations of concession operations.
- Preparing written documentation related to concessions.
- Responding to inquiries regarding agency activities.
Educational qualifications may include graduate-level coursework in relevant fields, or a combination of education and experience that meets the necessary criteria.
Volunteer Experience
Credit will be given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer work that contributes to the skills and competencies relevant to this position.
