Position Overview

The successful candidate will assist customers in the donation process, as well as in selecting and purchasing items from the store. Responsibilities include operating a cash register, addressing customer inquiries, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment. Additionally, the role involves ensuring the security of merchandise and cash, participating in the unloading of delivery trucks, and processing items in accordance with established protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting patrons with donations and purchases.
  • Manage cash register operations and handle customer transactions accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in store displays and the overall shopping area.
  • Participate in inventory management, including unloading and organizing stock.
  • Accept and document donations, ensuring proper processing and storage.
  • Assist in moving larger items to the sales floor as needed.
  • Keep the warehouse, loading dock, and surrounding areas tidy and organized.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred, but not mandatory. A combination of relevant training and experience that demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge will also be considered.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage with diverse individuals.
  • Basic mathematical skills for handling transactions and counting change.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that include frequent walking, standing, and lifting of heavy items.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a retail setting, with occasional exposure to warehouse conditions. Employees may encounter typical retail challenges such as noise and dust.
