At Sarasota Memorial Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Outpatient Service Representative III to join our team. As a key member of our urgent care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities, providing exceptional patient care, and delivering outstanding customer service.

- Professionally interview patients to obtain complete and accurate financial and insurance information, verifying required authorizations as needed.
- Answer telephone calls and route them to the appropriate party, serving as a liaison between the facility, physician, insurance company, and other healthcare agencies.
- Handle collections of monies from patients at the time of registration, maintaining strict confidentiality in dealing with patients and patient information.
- Schedule patient appointments and procedures, verifying pain management benefits, insurance coverage, and obtaining authorization for all visits and/or special procedures.
- Assume a supervisory role in the absence of the office manager, excelling in customer service and establishing effective working relationships.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer service setting.
- Ability to type 30-40 wpm.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and third-party payers, as well as computer literacy with Windows-based programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, meet and communicate with the public in a courteous and professional manner, and handle difficult customers or situations.
- Ability to function in multiple tasks, prioritize duties, and demonstrate initiative and self-direction.
Our urgent care centers are open 7 days a week, 8am-8pm. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are required. Shifts can vary from 8 hour shifts to 10 and 12 hour shifts. Flexibility to work at all 7 of our urgent care locations is also required, with schedule location preferences taken into consideration.
