Our client, a prominent private real estate investment firm, is engaged in the acquisition, development, and management of a rapidly expanding portfolio of residential properties across New York. Currently, we are seeking a meticulous Property Accountant to enhance their dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Controller, the successful candidate will oversee daily accounting operations for a real estate portfolio, with a primary focus on multifamily properties. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for close collaboration with senior management and the opportunity to gain invaluable experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily accounting functions, including accounts payable review, cash management, and wire transfers.
  • Lead the monthly general ledger closing process and prepare workpapers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Produce monthly reporting packages for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage cash flow forecasts to align with operational and investor requirements.
  • Collaborate with the real estate team to create and maintain annual budgets.
  • Review tax filings to ensure consistency with financial records.
  • Prepare necessary local and state filings as mandated.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of accounting experience with a focus on real estate.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with an emphasis on prioritization and time management.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with Yardi or similar real estate general ledger systems is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $90,000 - $110,000
