Job Title: Loss Control Specialist

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Loss Control Specialist to join our team. As a Loss Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our measurement systems, while also identifying and implementing process improvements to minimize product loss.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform in-person and/or data analytic oversight of internal and third-party measurement transactions and/or systems to/from MPC.
  • Gather data, documents, and/or prepare savings reports and updates dashboard/KPIs. Maintain supporting documents per MPC document retention policy.
  • Identify Loss Control issues and improvement initiatives at a local level. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop and implement innovative solutions as well as action plans to improve Loss Control performance.
  • Develop functional knowledge e.g., MPC Loss Control SOP, API, interpret/analyst data, reconcile system balance, MPC operation (e.g., Marine, Pipeline and/or Refinery), software and tools. Monitor and stay up to date with industry, federal, state, or local resources.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Loss Control standards, processes, procedures, and custody transfer measurement systems; introduce new technologies to help the company minimize product loss.
  • Support investigations and audits to ensure procedural compliance relative to loss control and measurement standards. Support negotiation/escalation of volume discrepancies and notifies manager of formal claims, if needed.
  • Support new business opportunity assessments as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required, or five (5) years of experience in lieu.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in Oil & Gas required.
  • Action Planning, Authentic Communicator, Business Acumen, Continuous Learning, Critical Thinking, Data Analysis, Measurement Systems, Negotiation, Results Driven, Risk Management, Self-Starter.
