Position Summary:
This role is essential in delivering exceptional patient care and support within our medical facility.

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will engage in a variety of tasks that encompass both administrative and clinical responsibilities, all under the guidance of a licensed podiatric physician and management team.

In this capacity, the CMA will conduct podiatric radiographic services, which include preparing patients for imaging procedures, operating radiographic machinery, and ensuring the maintenance of equipment within the Foot & Ankle clinic.


Key Responsibilities:
Core Duties

  • Efficiently manages communication by receiving and directing messages through various channels (electronic, in-person, and phone) to the appropriate staff members. Coordinates with other departments, healthcare providers, patients, and external organizations as necessary.
  • Oversees patient scheduling and appointment setting in accordance with established protocols.
  • Conducts patient interviews and facilitates the registration process for those utilizing specific services.
  • Maintains comprehensive patient records, entering necessary information such as dispositions, diagnostic codes, orders, charges, and payments into the electronic medical record system.
  • Performs venipuncture, collects routine lab specimens, and conducts point-of-care testing as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Administers non-controlled medications under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Monitors and records patients' vital signs accurately.
  • Executes various podiatric radiographic examinations under the supervision of a licensed physician, including calculating exposure factors, processing images, and reviewing radiographs for quality assurance. Prepares patients for imaging and ensures appropriate shielding.
  • Operates radiographic equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring timely review and forwarding of images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Completes all assigned tasks diligently.

Qualifications:
Experience Requirements

1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.

2 years of experience in clerical or customer service roles, ideally within a healthcare setting, is preferred.

1 year of experience with third-party payors and proficiency in data entry and patient demographic review is preferred.

Education Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Radiology Technician certification is preferred.

Certification/Licensure

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is required at the time of hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required at the time of hire.

A Medical Terminology Certificate is preferred at the time of hire.

Certification as a Podiatric X-ray Assistant by the Florida Board of Podiatric Medicine is required or must be obtained within 6 months.
