Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol the campus to prevent and deter crime, and to ensure the security of facilities and the safety of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Respond to and investigate incidents, and report crimes or incidents in violation of State Law, City Codes, or University rules.
  • Take enforcement action and make apprehensions as required, and complete all necessary documentation.
  • Preserve crime scenes, collect and preserve evidence, and identify and interview witnesses, suspects, and victims.
  • Perform traffic direction and crowd control duties as assigned, and render first aid and transport sick, injured, or disabled persons.
  • Assist visitors, students, and staff by providing information, directions, and assistance.
  • Participate in training and certification sessions, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Must be able to be commissioned as a constable in the State of Delaware.
  • Must pass routine physical fitness and agility testing.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and criminal history.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must be eligible for DELJIS certification.
  • Must be able to pass a drug-screening test and random drug testing.
Performance Standards:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the DSU Fundamentals.
  • Goals and objectives for this position will be measured in a performance agreement and evaluation.
