Job Description

Job Summary:

Homes For Good is seeking a highly skilled Housing Specialist to join our Rent Assistance Division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of approximately 450 to 550 families, ensuring their eligibility and benefits are accurately processed and maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Eligibility Management: Monitor participant eligibility, respond to and process requests for recertification of family composition and/or income from families.
  • Record Keeping: Develop and maintain accurate and complete records and reports, ensuring compliance with HUD regulations and agency policies.
  • Client Communication: Coordinate information with other staff members regarding participant issues, explain transfer process including participant responsibilities, and communicate with co-workers, participants, owners, and other community members.
  • Document Verification: Review, evaluate, and verify participant information, including household composition, income, medical expenses, assets, deductions, and other related eligibility documents.
  • Transfer Processing: Process transfer requests from participants, ensuring necessary documents are completed, legible, and signed.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research to determine the reasonableness of rent, and prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Three or more years of responsible community or social service experience with an emphasis on verifying documents for on-going program eligibility and income calculations.
  • Training: Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade, with additional specialized training in social services, a related field, and/or property management desirable.

  • Competitive Salary: $22.77 to $30.52 per hour ($47,367.72 to $63,477.36 per year)
