About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Plant Operations to join our team at Hunt Community. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and security operations of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with the Executive Director to discuss maintenance issues, construction priorities, department purchases, budgets, management concerns, supervisory issues, and intra-departmental policies and procedures.
  • Consult with the Executive Director on priorities pertaining to preventive maintenance, remodeling and construction projects, equipment and systems installations.
  • Comply with and enforce established policies and procedures, including safety and security regulations.
  • Regularly inspect equipment and systems for compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory codes, ordinances, and safety regulations.
  • Negotiate and implement cost-effective contracts with outside vendors through a bidding process.
  • Plan, direct, and supervise maintenance programs.
  • Organize and establish work routines, schedule daily service and repairs, and prepare and post work schedules.
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs for all areas, equipment, and systems.
  • Prioritize and schedule emergency service and repairs.
  • Establish and maintain a work order system for all areas.
  • Setup and maintain an inventory system of spare parts.
  • Attend meetings, schedule staff meetings, and record and distribute minutes.
  • Coordinate department functions and activities with other departments.
  • Develop written intra-departmental and inter-departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide solid staff direction and oversight to ensure productivity measurements are achieved.
  • Interview, orient, train new personnel, schedule hours, assign duties, evaluate work performance, and conduct regular in-service meetings and trainings.
  • Compute department operating costs, prepare department budgets, and submit to the Executive Director.
  • Maintain department records and oversee timekeeping for Maintenance and Security team members.
  • Plan and recommend development and improvements to the physical plant.
  • Accompany state and local inspectors on tours of buildings and grounds.
  • Assist in disaster programs, lead the Safety Committee, and participate on committees.
  • Investigate any accidents or incidents within the department and implement corrective action.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required.
  • Technical Certification and/or College degree recommended.
  • Previous experience as a leader in Maintenance/Security necessary.
  • Ability to handle numerous responsibilities at the same time.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be flexible, including work schedule based on business needs.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Ability to be a hands-on leader, including prolonged periods standing and walking and push, pull, lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong proven ability to meet deadlines and follow up appropriately on assigned tasks.
