Position Overview
The IACUC Compliance Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and institutional policies related to research involving live vertebrate animals. This position is situated within the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance, which is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of research integrity and compliance.
About Us
The Office of Research Integrity and Assurance (ORIA) is committed to supporting the research community by providing essential guidance on research integrity and responsible conduct. ORIA oversees compliance programs that encompass various aspects of research, including financial conflicts of interest, export controls, and the ethical treatment of research subjects.
Key Responsibilities
The IACUC Compliance Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to maintain compliance.
- Delivering educational sessions and outreach initiatives related to compliance.
- Creating and refining tools, templates, and training materials to streamline compliance processes.
- Identifying best practices and recommending improvements to existing policies and programs.
- Preparing documentation and materials for IACUC meetings.
- Facilitating IACUC meetings and managing related logistics.
- Conducting independent evaluations of IACUC protocols and assisting committee members in their review processes.
- Leading projects under the guidance of the Manager and supporting various compliance activities.
- Collaborating effectively with researchers and various administrative units.
- Providing guidance to researchers and committee members on regulatory requirements.
- Assisting in identifying and addressing compliance gaps.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
This is a term position with the potential for extension based on funding availability.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in life sciences and a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- Experience in animal research and a strong understanding of related regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- The ability to foster inclusive working relationships.
Additional qualifications that are desirable include:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent experience in animal research compliance.
- Prior administrative experience in a research compliance setting.
- Familiarity with research administration systems.
