Responsibilities


The Registered Nurse is accountable for delivering safe patient care by employing the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

This role involves providing direct patient care within the defined scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also plays a key role in guiding patient and family education, as well as overseeing the activities of other nursing staff while upholding care standards in the Birthplace.

Quick and accurate responses to changes in patient conditions or treatment responses are essential. The Registered Nurse ensures a safe environment for both patients and visitors.

Utilization of the chain of command is expected when necessary to guarantee patient safety and the appropriateness of care for newborns and mothers during both antepartum and postpartum periods.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience


Must possess a current and valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State. BLS certification is required upon hire and must be maintained. ACLS certification is also required upon hire and must be kept current. NRP certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
