Assistant Professor in Hydrology and Water Sustainability

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor in Hydrology and Water Sustainability to join our department. The successful candidate will complement our existing research clusters and establish an externally funded, internationally recognized research program that complements our strengths in the Department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a research program in hydrology and water sustainability, with a focus on identifying and modeling hydrologic change and developing solutions to water challenges.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise, including surface water hydrology, groundwater hydrology, and ecohydrologic processes.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff across the University, including the Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory, the Climate and Global Change Center, and the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation.
  • Contribute to the development of new research initiatives and programs that align with the Department's strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Hydrology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Strong research background in hydrology and water sustainability, with a focus on identifying and modeling hydrologic change.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to secure external funding for research projects.
