Assistant Professor of Geology and Environmental Science

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our faculty as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Hydrology and Water Sustainability. The successful candidate will complement our existing research clusters and establish an externally funded, internationally recognized research program that complements our strengths in the Department of Geology and Environmental Science.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in hydrology and water sustainability, with a focus on identifying and modeling hydrologic change, and developing solutions to water challenges.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise, with a focus on quantitative field-based measurements, data-driven modeling, or remote sensing.
- Establish a strong research program that complements our existing strengths in the Department, with a focus on surface water hydrology, groundwater hydrology, and the interacting roles of climate variability and land use change on hydrologic processes.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the University, including the Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory, the Climate and Global Change Center, the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation, and the emerging Pitt Space Initiative.
- Ph.D. in a relevant field at the time of appointment.
- Strong research and teaching background in hydrology and water sustainability.
