Job Title: Behavioral Health Responder Level II

Join the University of New Mexico - Hospitals team as a Behavioral Health Responder Level II, where you will play a vital role in providing crisis intervention and support services to individuals in need.

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Responder Level II works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide behavioral health response services to clients at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and in the community. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health and substance use issues, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide crisis intervention and support services to clients in need, including de-escalation, brief interventions, and crisis stabilization.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop person-centered, trauma-informed, strengths-based safety plans.
  • Provide emergency client response under supervision, whenever necessary, on the SRMC campus and in the community.
  • Participate in daily management systems and community meetings for proper coordination of care and team communication.
  • Develop and maintain recovery-oriented therapeutic relationships with individuals in crisis through ongoing assessment and stabilization efforts.
  • Provide in-person interventions, telehealth, phone triage, and support to clients in need of behavioral health services under supervision.
  • Collaborate with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate care.
  • Make referral arrangements with emergency personnel or resources to provide next step care for clients and families.
  • Assess client's behavioral health and substance use status and provide evidence-based intervention strategies under supervision.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in mental health, substance abuse, or a related field.
  • LCSW or LPCC or Marriage and Family Therapist credentials.
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days.
  • UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit within 60 days.
Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to various work sites. The Behavioral Health Responder Level II may be required to work in office, vehicles, hospital, or various community settings.
