About the Opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a dynamic and experienced Cultural Resources Technician to join our team in Austin, TX. As a key member of our environmental consulting services team, you will be responsible for conducting archaeological fieldwork, including pedestrian survey, site identification, site recording and data collection, monitoring and data recovery excavations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field, with experience in field methodologies, including survey, testing, excavation, and heavy equipment or ground disturbing activity monitoring. A valid driver's license, ability to pass a Motor Vehicle background screening, and access to reliable transportation are also required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct archaeological fieldwork, including pedestrian survey, site identification, site recording and data collection, monitoring and data recovery excavations.
  • Accurately identify historic and prehistoric artifacts and features.
  • Assist with cultural resource records searches, laboratory analysis tasks, and other office work, as needed.
  • Work independently in a responsible manner and as a productive member of a team.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field, preferred.
  • An accredited Field School, preferred.
  • Experience with a range of field methodologies, including survey, testing, excavation, and heavy equipment or ground disturbing activity monitoring, preferred.
