Job Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Specialist will be responsible for processing the County's accounts receivable and performing various financial and statistical tasks as requested by the Treasurer/First Deputy Treasurer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in daily functions of the Treasurer's office.
  • Verify accuracy of data and generate various financial and statistical reports.
  • Establish, process, and track accounts receivable for the Treasurer/Deputy and the County of Greene.
  • Operate computer software, including Excel, QuickBooks, and MIP, to provide input and make adjustments to programs and data as required.
  • Establish and process billing for other County offices unable to complete their own billings.
  • Generate monthly invoices for various county departments for rents and revenues and ensure timely payment.
  • Invoice all billings for expenses not associated with reimbursable departments, such as Health Insurance.
  • Answer inquiries from the public and others regarding department procedures, assisting in person or on the telephone.
  • Interact with internal and external government departments, outside bureaus, agencies, and the general public daily to perform essential job duties.
  • Maintain the County Liquid Fuels Files.
  • Provide invoice/payment reconciliation.
  • Administer the Hotel Tax process.
  • Process all checks received in the mail, including Grant checks.
  • Track and process all County reimbursement checks from Children and Youth, Human Services, and Conservation.
  • Track assignment of expenses to Budget.
  • Compile information from MIP to send reports/forms to departments for billable purposes.
  • Perform small audits.
  • Be a team player and willing to perform additional duties as needed.
  • Scan and upload invoices and payments to DocuClass and perform AR data entry and filing of AR documentation.
  • Discuss any issues with the Treasurer/Deputy.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • Computer training required, including word processing skills.
  • Ability to speak and understand the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function independently, have flexibility, and work effectively with co-workers and the general public.
  • Thorough knowledge of word processing skills, modern office practices and procedures, and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to exhibit individual initiative in carrying out assigned projects.
  • Ability to compose a variety of letters, memoranda, and reports with only oral instructions.
  • Ability to maintain a variety of records and prepare complete and accurate reports.
