Job DescriptionPosition Overview

AIMS Locum Tenens is in search of an Operating Room Surgical Specialist to deliver essential support within the surgical environment. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the Operating Room (OR) is fully prepared, maintaining the functionality of equipment, and facilitating sterile processing and administrative tasks in the surgical area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Productivity Standards: Achieve a productivity level that aligns with peers performing similar roles.
  • Quality Improvement: Engage in peer review and continuous performance enhancement initiatives.
  • Aseptic Practices: Adhere to infection control protocols, including the appropriate handling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous materials.
  • Safety Regulations: Follow safety guidelines, including radiation safety measures, to protect both patients and staff.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Respond effectively in emergency situations, adhering to established emergency protocols.
  • Legal and Ethical Standards: Demonstrate an understanding of legal considerations in all patient care interactions.
Specific Duties
  • OR Coordination: Oversee all aspects of the Operating Room, including awareness of the surgical schedule and ensuring all necessary preparations are completed.
  • Equipment Oversight: Confirm that all essential equipment is available and operational for procedures, notifying the surgical team of any deficiencies.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with the supply officer to maintain an adequate stock of routine supplies in the OR.
  • Surgical Suite Maintenance: Ensure the surgical suite is functional, including the proper care of instruments and equipment.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to the clinical area to ensure efficient operational flow.
  • Sterile Processing Duties: Carry out responsibilities related to the Sterile Processing Department, including cleaning, processing, and sterilizing surgical instruments.
Work Schedule and On-Call Information
  • Work Hours: The Operating Room Services Department operates continuously throughout the year. Shifts may include day, evening, or night schedules, with weekend shifts also available. Each shift will include an unpaid meal break.
  • On-Call Requirements: None
  • Overtime Hours: None
Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of a Surgical Technology program accredited by relevant educational bodies or a formal training program from a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Certification: Must hold certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a surgical technician role post-graduation.
