Job Overview

AIMS Locum Tenens LLC is in search of a Surgical Technologist to deliver extensive assistance in the Operating Room (OR) at a leading medical facility. The ideal candidate will be tasked with ensuring the OR is fully prepared, maintaining the functionality of equipment, and supporting sterile processing and administrative tasks within the surgical environment.

General Responsibilities

  • Productivity: Uphold a productivity level that aligns with peers performing similar roles.
  • Peer Review and Improvement: Engage in peer review and performance enhancement initiatives.
  • Aseptic Techniques: Adhere to infection control protocols, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety regulations, including radiation safety, to protect patients and staff.
  • Emergency Response: Act decisively in emergency situations, adhering to established protocols.
  • Legal and Ethical Awareness: Maintain an understanding of legal considerations in all patient care activities.

Specific Responsibilities

  • OR Planning: Prepare for all facets of the Operating Room, including familiarity with the surgical schedule and ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place.
  • Equipment Management: Confirm that all essential equipment is available and operational for procedures. Alert the surgeon of any equipment shortages.
  • Supply Management: Collaborate with the departmental supply officer to keep routine supply items stocked in the OR.
  • Surgical Suite Maintenance: Ensure the surgical suite remains functional, including the proper care of instruments and equipment.
  • Office Automation Support: Provide administrative support to the designated clinical area to facilitate smooth operational workflows.
  • Sterile Processing: Execute Sterile Processing Department responsibilities as assigned, including the cleaning, processing, and sterilization of surgical instruments.

Schedule and On-Call Requirements

Work Schedule: The Operating Room Services Department operates continuously throughout the year. The Surgical Technologist may be assigned to day, evening, or night shifts, with weekend shifts also included. Each shift will incorporate an unpaid lunch break.

Qualifications

  • Degree: Certificate.
  • Education: Completion of a Surgical Technology program accredited by relevant health education authorities or a formal training program from any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Certification: Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician post-graduation.
