Key Responsibilities:

The following outlines the essential duties and responsibilities of a Physical Therapist Assistant. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to assess patient conditions, establish treatment goals, and develop care plans in conjunction with patients, families, and physicians.
  • Conduct tests and measurements to evaluate patients' strength, motor skills, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, documenting findings to adjust treatment programs as necessary.
  • Administer physical therapy treatments (including home instructions) within the scope of practice and monitor patient responses to these treatments.
  • Work alongside the Physical Therapist to evaluate treatment effects at various stages and modify treatments to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Document findings, treatments, responses, and progress in patient records according to clinic guidelines.
  • Ensure that appropriate treatments are performed in an interdisciplinary manner, consulting with physicians and other departments regarding the impact of physical therapy on patient health.
  • Adhere to clinic policies related to infection control, safety, and regulations.
  • Educate patients and their families on appropriate care and the use of various therapies and exercises.
  • Serve as a resource for information and education for patients, families, and staff.
  • Provide physical therapy services while maintaining appropriate protocols.
  • Supervise and assist with student observations and clinical rotations as applicable.
  • Participate in marketing and promotional efforts as needed.
  • Engage in departmental meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Assist in the smooth operation of the clinic by fulfilling responsibilities assigned by the Clinical Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities, with a knack for building effective relationships with patients, families, and staff.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of physical therapy principles, standards, and applications.
  • Familiarity with clinic policies, procedures, regulations, safety, infection control, and quality control requirements.
  • Proficiency in using and maintaining physical therapy equipment.
  • Ability to evaluate patient treatment and make necessary adjustments based on utilization and quality data.
  • Skill in effectively supervising physical therapy students and rehabilitation aides.
