Role Summary and Requirements

The Oncology Nurse Navigator plays a crucial role within the multidisciplinary team, acting as an advocate and educator for patients diagnosed with cancer, guiding them from diagnosis through the completion of active treatment.

The primary responsibility of the Oncology Nurse Navigator is to ensure patient adherence to their treatment plans. This is achieved by fostering relationships with patients and healthcare providers, coordinating care plans, assisting with appointments, transportation, education, and resource allocation.

The Navigator is also accountable for managing resources effectively to ensure high-quality outcomes for cancer patients, collaborating with various healthcare professionals and organizations. This role involves acting as a liaison among patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers, facilitating communication and support throughout the treatment journey.

Qualifications Needed:
  • Minimum of 1 year of RN experience.
  • Preferred: Experience in oncology nursing.
  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN program with completion within 5 years of hire. Exemptions may apply based on experience.
  • Required Certification: BLS.
  • Preferred Certification: Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC).
