Electronics Reliability Specialist, Energy Solutions

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Reliability Specialist to join our team at Tesla. As a key member of our energy storage and electronics reliability team, you will play a critical role in enhancing the reliability of our innovative energy solutions.
You will be responsible for conducting in-depth failure analysis and investigating the underlying mechanisms of electronic failures. Your findings will be crucial in identifying and rectifying design and material weaknesses, providing essential insights that drive the optimization of designs and fortify the robustness and dependability of our cutting-edge energy solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Applying various inspection techniques to evaluate the state of health of electronic components and identify signs of degradation for diagnostics and prognostics of new energy storage systems during the development phase
- Providing insights into hardware root causes of detected accelerated life test failures and recommending potential mitigations to address these issues for early energy storage system spins
- Collaborating with colleagues across teams to drive effective communications with leadership to present results and propose solutions
- Leading innovation in inspection methodologies and deepening the understanding of failure modes to optimize the remaining useful life for our energy storage and charging products
- Maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory space by following safety and 5S best practices
- Actively training colleagues on lab equipment usage and inspection methodologies, fostering a knowledgeable and skilled team
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience and a working knowledge of testing methods employed to determine quality and reliability of electrical components. Experience using failure analysis techniques such as X-ray, CT, CSAM, cross-sectioning, optical microscopy, SEM, and EDX is highly desired.
A competitive annual salary range of $84,000 - $192,000 + cash and stock awards + benefits makes this an attractive opportunity for individuals passionate about improving the reliability of energy storage and electronics systems.
