Position Overview
This role is a key individual contributor within the accounting department, reporting directly to the Controller. The successful candidate will support Dominion Energy's business segments through various assignments and analyses, particularly in special accounting projects that may involve intricate details.

Key Responsibilities
The selected individual will engage in the following tasks:

  • Developing recommended accounting positions for both current and proposed transactions.
  • Reviewing new or modified contracts and consulting on business development activities.
  • Assessing and implementing new accounting standards.
  • Providing leadership and functional advice to less experienced accountants.
  • Performing monthly and quarterly procedures, including:
    • Facilitating the review and compilation of comments on SEC filings.
    • Monitoring the status of SOX control procedures.
    • Conducting periodic update meetings with accounting groups on current issues.
    • Peer reviewing account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 6 years of accounting experience or 5 years in public accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex accounting concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • CPA certification or candidacy is highly preferred, along with a comprehensive understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • A customer-service orientation with a focus on innovation and implementation.

Education
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required. Preferred disciplines include Accounting, Business, or Finance.
