About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer/Associate to join our Civil Engineering Practice in Los Angeles, CA. The successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for the inspection, analysis, and evaluation of geotechnical systems, including foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, levees, dams, slopes, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field inspections and subsurface explorations to gather data and information
  • Perform geotechnical and civil engineering analyses to evaluate the stability and safety of geotechnical systems
  • Assist with peer review of the design and construction of geotechnical systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Prepare conceptual designs for the repair and restoration of damaged geotechnical systems
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university or M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university plus 5 years' experience
  • Degrees, experience, or related coursework in Geology/Geological Engineering, Groundwater/Surface Water Hydrology, or Structural Engineering are a strong plus
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to develop successful client relationships
  • Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy, and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective leadership skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to gather information from a wide variety of sources and synthesize and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and industry
  • Knowledge of geotechnical modeling software, graphing software, GIS, and imaging software is a strong plus
