Position Overview:

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a dedicated Neonatal Intensive Nurse Practitioner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill neonates in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), including participation in high-risk deliveries alongside the NICU team, as well as the admission and ongoing management of ill neonates in both level III and level II settings.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to evaluate patient histories and daily clinical data, participate in rounds, and develop management strategies. Perform essential procedures such as endotracheal intubation, needle thoracentesis, thoracostomy, paracentesis, umbilical line placement, PICC line placement, peripheral arterial access, lumbar puncture, and bladder catheterization.
  • Ensure compliance with licensure requirements and maintain certification standards.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education: A Master’s degree in nursing is mandatory, along with successful completion of an accredited formal education program designed to prepare professional nurses for practice as nurse practitioners. A Master’s or post-Master’s degree in an adult or family nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) is essential.
  2. Certifications: Possession of ANA or equivalent nursing certification in the relevant practice area, along with authorization from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to operate in an expanded role. DEA certification for prescription authority is required.
  3. Board Certification: Must hold board certification as a Pediatric or Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
  4. NRP Certification: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification is necessary.
  5. Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in caring for ill and critically ill newborns in both delivery room and ICU environments is required.
