Position Overview:

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a dedicated professional in the field of neonatal care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide comprehensive care for critically ill neonates in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), including participation in high-risk deliveries alongside the NICU team, and managing the admission and ongoing treatment of neonates in both level III and level II settings.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient history and daily clinical data, engage in rounds to formulate management strategies, and perform essential medical procedures such as endotracheal intubation, needle thoracentesis, thoracostomy, paracentesis, umbilical line placement, PICC line placement, peripheral arterial access, lumbar puncture, and bladder catheterization.
  • Ensure compliance with licensure requirements and maintain certification standards.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education: A Master’s degree in nursing is mandatory, with successful completion of an accredited program designed to prepare professional nurses for nurse practitioner roles. A Master’s or post-Master’s degree in an adult or family nurse practitioner program accredited by CCNE or NLNAC is required.
  2. Certification: Must possess appropriate nursing certification in the specialty area and authorization from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for expanded role practice. DEA certification for prescription writing is necessary.
  3. Board Certification: Required certification as a Pediatric or Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
  4. NRP Certification: Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification is essential.
  5. Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in caring for ill and critically ill newborns in both delivery room and ICU environments.
