Kaiser Permanente is looking for a Nursing Education Consultant to join our team. This role is based in Clackamas, Oregon, and focuses on enhancing the professional development of nursing staff.

Position Overview

The Nursing Education Consultant is a registered nurse specializing in educational practices, dedicated to fostering the growth and competence of nursing professionals across various healthcare environments. This position emphasizes continuous learning and supports nursing leadership in delivering high-quality patient care through the enhancement of clinical skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Professional Development: Implement structured processes to design, execute, and assess educational programs tailored for nursing staff. Conduct needs assessments and document findings to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Create evidence-based educational content that adheres to established standards of care and practices.
  • Program Management: Collaborate with nursing leadership to establish comprehensive orientation and competency assessment programs for new and existing staff. Utilize regulatory standards and best practices to inform content selection and evaluation methods.
  • Leadership and Change Management: Analyze healthcare challenges and lead change initiatives effectively. Communicate the vision of nursing leadership and maintain a thorough understanding of change management principles.
  • Consultation: Act as a resource for staff, helping to identify issues and potential solutions. Engage in research and evidence-based practices to enhance educational offerings.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a role model for professionalism and integrity, guiding peers in their professional development. Maintain clinical expertise through ongoing education and self-assessment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience in educational roles.
  • A minimum of three years of clinical experience in a relevant specialty.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Active Registered Nurse License in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
Additional Skills
  • Familiarity with current healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Effective presentation and time management skills.
  • Conflict resolution expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of leadership or management experience.
  • Five years of educational experience in nursing.
  • Five years of clinical experience in acute care settings.
  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development or a clinical specialty.
  • Master's degree in nursing with a focus on clinical practice.
