Position Overview:

Under general supervision and in collaboration with fellow healthcare professionals, the Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes clinical judgment to assess and address health-related responses in patients. The RN is accountable for the comprehensive evaluation, planning, execution, and assessment of nursing care, while also coordinating nursing activities with other healthcare disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment: Conducts thorough multi-system evaluations, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs. Identifies any deviations from normal findings in routine lab tests and reassesses patients throughout their hospitalization.
  • Planning: Develops personalized nursing care plans that cater to the developmental needs of patients. Coordinates care activities and discharge planning with various hospital departments and community resources. Creates and documents patient education plans as part of the care strategy.
  • Implementation: Executes appropriate measures based on established protocols for managing medical and surgical patients. Follows the physician's care plan accurately and documents all care in the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Evaluation: Assesses the effectiveness of assessment methods, care plans, and patient responses to treatments. Engages in quality assurance initiatives within the unit.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience:

  • At least nine (9) months of RN experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in ICU critical care with proven expertise.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided) required at hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proficient computer keyboarding skills.
  • Competency in sedation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior healthcare experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of recent ICU nursing experience preferred.
  • CCRN certification preferred.
  • PALS certification preferred.
