Position Overview:
In this role, the Registered Nurse operates under general supervision and collaborates with a multidisciplinary health care team to utilize clinical judgment in diagnosing and addressing human responses to both actual and potential health challenges. The RN is accountable for assessing, planning, directing, delivering, and evaluating nursing care for patients, while also coordinating nursing activities with other health care professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment: Conducts thorough multi-system evaluations, including biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs. Recognizes deviations from normal findings in routine laboratory tests and reassesses patients throughout their hospital stay. Completes comprehensive discharge assessments.
- Planning: Formulates individualized nursing care plans that are responsive to the developmental needs of patients. Coordinates care activities and discharge planning with various hospital departments and community organizations. Develops and documents patient education plans.
- Implementation: Executes appropriate interventions based on established protocols for managing medical and surgical patients. Adheres to the physician's care plan and accurately documents care in the electronic medical record (EMR). Engages in a multidisciplinary approach when necessary and performs all required procedures competently.
- Evaluation: Assesses the effectiveness of assessment methods, care plans, and patient responses to treatment. Actively participates in quality assurance initiatives within the unit.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience:
- At least nine (9) months of RN experience.
One (1) year of recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit or successful completion of the Kaiser ICU cross-training program.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within three months of hire.
Additional Requirements:
- Proficient computer keyboarding skills.
- Experience with drug calculations.
- Knowledge in Cardiac Rhythm Recognition.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a health care setting.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field.
- Two (2) years of recent ICU nursing experience is preferred.
- CCRN certification is preferred.
- Experience with Dialysis, SLED, or equivalent is preferred.
