Job Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will oversee the engineering aspects of the production process. This role is crucial for planning and executing departmental operations or focusing on professional activities within a specific technical area. You will also engage in strategic projects aimed at achieving long-term goals, operating with a degree of independence while adhering to established guidelines and evaluating outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will:
  • Facilitate shop floor operations to achieve business objectives while fostering collaboration among team members in a self-directed work environment.
  • Contribute to the formulation of mid and long-term strategies that outline initiatives to support business goals, emphasizing cost efficiency, product quality, and cycle time.
  • Design and implement manufacturing systems and processes for effective material control and replenishment.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction by cultivating positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of all facets of production operations, including safety, scheduling, quality assurance, and team development within designated areas.
  • Plan and execute engineering activities for new product development and ongoing product support.
  • Drive method development and enhancements for both existing and new products.
  • Identify safe manufacturing processes that yield high-quality products in the most efficient manner.
  • Research and integrate new technologies to support growth initiatives.
  • Assist supervisors and production staff in troubleshooting manufacturing process challenges, focusing on root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Conduct training sessions, process planning, evaluate operational methods, and specify necessary tools, fixtures, and gauges to ensure consistent production of compliant products.
  • Maintain the manufacturing engineering framework regarding part routing and standards.
  • Collaborate with Product Team Leaders to uphold and enhance shop floor quality controls and best practices.
  • Execute quality planning activities related to manufacturing.
  • Pursue continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and reducing costs in assigned areas.
  • Act as a change agent, guiding operations towards benchmarked, best-in-class performance.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering, or 4 years of Military Experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Manufacturing or Engineering.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials from an accredited institution.
  • Direct experience with metal machining processes or a strong educational background with a willingness to learn from experienced professionals.
  • Experience in designing or improving machining tools and fixtures.
  • Understanding of CNC machines and programming fundamentals.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and utilize Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Strong background in interpreting engineering drawings/specifications and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with ISO and quality procedures.
