Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Trinity Health. As a key member of our surgical team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement medical plans of care for acute management of all surgery patients
  • Assist with evaluation and triage of emergency room patients
  • Provide direct clinical services for surgical patients according to established protocols
  • Perform patient work-up, including history and physical examination, and ordering of laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as indicated
  • Assist with operative procedures, including endoscopic vein and radial artery harvest, femoral vessel exposure, cannulation and repair, and first and second assisting
  • Complete daily hospital work rounds, including pre and post operations, and charting of progress notes as required
  • Participate in the care of off-service patients as indicated by consulting physician request
  • Order appropriate diagnostic and laboratory data under the direction of the supervising physician and communicate results to physicians and other healthcare providers
  • Assess changes in patient status and institute routine and emergency interventions to stabilize patients under the direction of the supervising physician and APP team
  • Document plan of care and patient progress in medical records and narrative summaries
  • Evaluate and document patient outcomes and revise the plan under the direction of collaborating physicians in association with other specialty consultants
  • Help facilitate discharge planning along with patients, families, other members of the healthcare team, and referral agencies
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in clinical nursing from an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program with emphasis on area of certification/licensure
  • Current Registered Nurse and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner license in the State of Michigan
  • Requires graduation from an ARC-PA accredited PA program
  • Current License/Certification as Physician Assistant with the State of Michigan
  • Surgical experience preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate
