About the Company and Overview of the Part Time Payroll Specialist Role:

Creative Financial Staffing is partnering with a new client to bring on a part time Payroll Specialist to join their small team.

  • Job Type: Part-time, Remote
  • Work Schedule: Flexible, with core hours of 8:30am-5pm, Monday to Friday
  • Contract Duration: Long-term, 1+ year
  • Reports to: Chief Technology Officer
Job Duties of the Part Time Payroll Specialist:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Processing payroll on a biweekly basis for 80 hourly, salary, and commissioned employees in ADP Workforce Now and completing any off-cycle payrolls.
  • Serving as a liaison between ADP and the company, handling any issues that arise with ADP and reaching out to the representative for assistance as needed.
  • Handling employee reimbursements for company phones, company purchases, and other out-of-pocket expenses at the beginning of each month into ADP worksheets to ensure accurate reimbursement.
  • Paying out employees for referral bonuses as needed.
  • Reviewing the payroll register to ensure that all deductions, particularly for benefits, are entered accurately in ADP to prevent any discrepancies in employee paychecks.
  • Reviewing the payroll data for errors, such as checks being entered instead of direct deposits, and making necessary corrections before payroll is processed.
  • Updating any changes to employee 401(k) contributions in ADP, ensuring that all percentage changes or new requests are processed correctly.
  • Handling retroactive pay entries and updating new salary amounts in ADP for employees who have received promotions or salary adjustments.
  • Setting up new employees in ADP (multiple states, all remote).
  • Setting up Health Savings Accounts (HSA) for employees in ADP as per their enrollment.
  • Implementing and setting up payroll for new states and local jurisdictions - SUI and SIT rates, Income Tax, filing and archiving all payroll tax returns and reports submitted by ADP, generating specific payroll reports, and addressing any issues that arise during payroll runs.
  • Handling tax notices that come in the mail.
  • Setting up new Deduction Codes (Validation Table).
  • Handling Earned Income Tax Rate Corrections.
  • Preparing W-2s and year-end items.
Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (ADP RUN is not acceptable).
  • 1-2+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Basic Excel skills.
