Job Summary
The University of Maryland Medical System seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in Perioperative Services. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our perioperative services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced perioperative environment, demonstrating expertise in unit-specific patient populations and advancing own practice.
- Serve as a clinical resource for colleagues, applying and integrating evidence into practice to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, and equitable patient-centered care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate care, advocating for patient and family needs and modeling practice consistent with unit operations.
- Participate in unit-based outcomes associated with National Hospital Quality Measures, Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators, and Facility Annual Operational Plan.
- Contribute to and endorse research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Implement policies, procedures, and guidelines consistently in the performance of assigned duties, identifying possible risks in processes and communicating them to management.
- Develop effective working relationships and maintain good communication with other team members, participating in hospital, departmental, and unit patient safety initiatives.
- Function in the charge nurse role, participating in teambuilding efforts, contributing to briefings and staff meetings, and participating in unit, Nursing Division, and organizational governance structure.
- Provide feedback in peer review and direct performance feedback as requested.
Requirements
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland or eligibility to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing.
- Meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland, meeting all applicable federal, state, and local professional requirements.
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS certification required.
- More than 12 months nursing experience.
