Our DPL offerings are tailored to deliver coverage for a range of professionals across various sectors, including Real Estate, Insurance Brokers, and other specialized professions. Our team is distributed across multiple locations, boasting extensive collective experience.
Position Overview
This is a client-facing production underwriting position within a close-knit team of highly driven and efficient professionals. Under guidance, you will assess insurance applications to evaluate, categorize, and price each risk to determine its acceptability and coverage options. You will establish, nurture, and expand relationships with agencies and brokers. This role carries defined underwriting authority and responsibilities for business development. You will provide underwriting support in various areas of liability, property, or specialized contingency coverage.

- Review new and renewal policy applications and associated documents to classify and evaluate each risk, determine acceptability, assign ratings, indicate endorsements and limits, and establish appropriate pricing.
- Respond to inquiries from brokers in a timely manner, providing necessary information and serving as an underwriting resource.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation (both physical and electronic), including new and renewal files, underwriting worksheets, and records of communications, in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Comply with all company underwriting authority directives, guidelines, and relevant policies and procedures.
- Make approval or denial decisions within established authority or recommend actions to higher authority.
- Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to streamline the underwriting process, enhance business development, and stay informed on industry trends.
- Act as a resource for other departmental personnel regarding underwriting procedures and guidelines.
- A 4-year BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Pursuit of professional designations such as Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU), or Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) is preferred.
- Informed about industry developments, legal updates, and technical advancements relevant to the company's business to proactively adapt to changes.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills; proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, emphasizing confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
- Experience in both retail and wholesale underwriting.
- Enjoys marketing and building professional relationships.
