Job Title: CDL Driver

Breckenridge and Edwards Building Centers, a leading provider of lumber and specialty building materials, is seeking a skilled CDL Driver to join our team.

Job Summary:

As a CDL Driver, you will be responsible for delivering materials to job sites, inspecting and maintaining your truck, and reporting any shortages or claims to your supervisor. You will also assist in loading and storing materials, and may drive a truck with a capacity of over three tons.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a commercial vehicle safely and efficiently
  • Participate in a positive work environment and maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required
  • Prepare and maintain DOT required logs of time on duty and driving
  • Organize and secure loads
  • Assist forklift operators when loading
  • Check orders for accuracy
  • Deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction
  • Complete daily equipment pre-inspection
  • Record all merchandise that is returned by truck
  • Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Relay messages sent by customers while on the job
  • Assist supervisor, other employees, and other work areas as assigned
  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse
  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines
  • Safe and efficient operation of truck-mounted forklift
  • Maintain cleanliness of truck
  • Participate in and complete assigned trainings
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or general equivalency degree (GED)
  • Minimum experience: 6 months CDL experience preferred
  • Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required
  • 1 year CDL experience required for interstate commerce
  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills
  • Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems
  • Maintains current operator's license and meets company driver qualification requirements
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques
  • Physical demands include stooping, bending, twisting, and throwing
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs or more on a repetitive basis
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS, and other necessary business applications)
