Position Summary

The role involves transporting materials to designated job sites, conducting inspections and maintenance on the vehicle, reporting any shortages or claims to the supervisor, and assisting with the loading and storage of materials. The position typically requires operating a truck with a capacity exceeding three tons, although less experienced CDL or tractor-trailer drivers may also be considered.

Compensation: $40.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle
  • Contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as necessary
  • Complete DOT-required logs of driving and duty time
  • Organize and secure loads effectively
  • Assist forklift operators during loading processes
  • Verify orders for accuracy
  • Deliver and unload materials to meet customer satisfaction
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment
  • Document all merchandise returned by truck and assist in unloading materials for credit
  • Adhere to guidelines set by the Department of Transportation
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Communicate messages from customers while on the job
  • Support supervisors and other employees as needed
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the yard and warehouse
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained
  • Participate in and complete required training sessions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Preferred education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Preferred experience: Minimum of 6 months of CDL experience; basic experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers required; 1 year of CDL experience necessary for interstate commerce
  • Required skills: Basic math, reading orders, writing instructions, and completing forms
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers, colleagues, and supervisors, both verbally and in writing
  • Capability to handle conflicts constructively and identify potential issues
  • Maintain a current operator's license and meet company driver qualification standards
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques
  • Physical requirements include bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 100 lbs repetitively, as well as working in various environmental conditions
  • Proficiency with or willingness to learn current technologies (e.g., smartphones, GPS, and other business applications)
