Position Summary

The role involves delivering materials to construction sites, performing inspections and maintenance on the vehicle, reporting any shortages or claims to the supervisor, and assisting in the loading and storage of materials. The position typically requires driving a truck with a capacity exceeding three tons, although it may also involve less experienced CDL or tractor-trailer drivers.

Compensation: $40.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle
  • Contribute to a positive work atmosphere
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required
  • Complete DOT mandated logs of driving and duty time
  • Organize and secure loads effectively
  • Assist in loading operations with forklift operators
  • Verify order accuracy
  • Deliver and unload materials to meet customer satisfaction
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment
  • Document all merchandise returned by truck and assist in unloading materials for credit
  • Adhere to guidelines set by the Department of Transportation
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Communicate messages from customers while on the job
  • Support supervisors and other employees as needed
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the yard and warehouse
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained
  • Participate in and complete required training sessions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Preferred education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Preferred experience: At least 6 months of CDL experience; basic experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers is required; 1 year of CDL experience is necessary for interstate commerce
  • Required skills: Basic math proficiency, ability to read orders, write instructions, and complete forms
  • Effective communication skills with customers, colleagues, and supervisors
  • Ability to handle conflicts constructively and identify potential issues
  • Maintain a current operator's license and meet company driver qualifications
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques
  • Physical requirements include stooping, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 100 lbs repetitively
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g., smartphones, GPS, and other necessary business applications)
