Position Summary

The role involves transporting materials to designated job sites, conducting vehicle inspections, maintaining truck functionality, reporting any shortages or claims to the supervisor, and assisting with the loading and organization of materials. The position typically requires driving a truck with a capacity exceeding three tons, although it may also involve less experienced CDL or tractor-trailer driving.

Compensation: $40.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle
  • Contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required
  • Complete DOT-mandated logs of driving and duty time
  • Organize and secure loads effectively
  • Assist forklift operators during loading processes
  • Verify order accuracy
  • Deliver and unload materials to meet customer satisfaction
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment
  • Document all merchandise returned by truck and assist in unloading materials for credit
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation guidelines
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Communicate messages from customers while on the job
  • Support supervisors and colleagues as needed
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the yard and warehouse
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts
  • Keep the truck clean and well-maintained
  • Participate in and complete assigned training programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Preferred education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Preferred experience: At least 6 months of CDL driving experience; basic experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers is required. A minimum of 1 year of CDL experience is necessary for interstate commerce.
  • Required skills: Ability to perform basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, colleagues, and supervisors, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage conflict constructively and identify potential issues.
  • Maintain a current operator's license and meet company driver qualification standards.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and physical demands including stooping, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 100 lbs or more repetitively.
  • Proficiency with or willingness to learn current technologies (e.g., smartphones, GPS, and other necessary business applications).
