Position Summary

The role involves delivering materials to designated sites, conducting inspections and maintenance on the vehicle, reporting any shortages or claims to the supervisor, and assisting in the loading and storage of materials. The position typically requires operating a truck with a capacity exceeding three tons, although less experienced drivers may also be considered.

Compensation: $40.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle
  • Contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as necessary
  • Complete DOT-required logs of driving and duty time
  • Organize and secure loads effectively
  • Assist forklift operators during loading procedures
  • Verify order accuracy
  • Deliver and unload materials to meet customer satisfaction
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment
  • Document all merchandise returned by truck and assist in unloading materials for credit
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation guidelines
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Communicate messages from customers while on the job
  • Support supervisors and colleagues as needed
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the yard and warehouse
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained
  • Participate in and complete assigned training programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
  • Preferred education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Preferred experience: At least 6 months of CDL experience; basic experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers is required, with 1 year of CDL experience needed for interstate commerce
  • Required skills: Basic math proficiency, ability to read orders, write instructions, and complete forms
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with customers and team members
  • Ability to handle conflicts constructively and identify potential issues
  • Maintain a current operator's license and meet company driver qualification standards
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques
  • Physical demands include bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting up to 100 lbs or more regularly
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn current technologies (e.g., smartphones, GPS, and other business applications)
