Job Title: Environmental Consultant

Job Summary:

At Barr Engineering Company, we are seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to join our team. As an Environmental Consultant, you will play a key role in providing air permitting and compliance support to our industrial clients. Your primary responsibilities will include determining regulatory applicability, preparing compliance plans and reports, developing air permitting applications, and performing technical and economic feasibility studies for pollution-control equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine regulatory applicability and prepare compliance plans and reports
  • Develop air permitting applications and perform technical and economic feasibility studies
  • Provide air permitting and compliance support to industrial clients
  • Develop proposals, scopes of work, and budgets
  • Participate in meetings and negotiations with clients and regulatory agency personnel
  • Coordinate with internal teams and staff
  • Review and provide quality control of draft deliverables
  • Manage projects and ensure timely completion


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering or a related scientific degree
  • 5 or more years of professional experience with state and federal air programs
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, project team members, and regulators
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and within budget
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Intrinsic motivation with an emphasis on client service
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience working with federal air regulations such as PSD/NSR and CAA Title V
  • Experience with developing air permit applications and supporting materials
  • Experience evaluating BACT/RACT/LAER or similar economic evaluations
  • Aptitude for developing client relationships and new business


Work Arrangement:

A hybrid or remote work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office; a remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Bismarck, North Dakota; Denver, Colorado; Duluth, Minnesota; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Hibbing, Minnesota; Jefferson City, Missouri; or Salt Lake City, Utah offices. Remote arrangements will be considered based on candidate qualifications, location requirements, and Barr's needs.

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000-$110,000/year. Compensation will vary based on experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus.
