Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role within the finance department, reporting directly to the Controller. This position entails the preparation of month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and the development of supporting schedules associated with key balance sheet accounts such as cash, investments, prepaids, fixed assets, and accruals. Additionally, the Senior Accountant is tasked with generating monthly and quarterly financial statement flux analysis and co-facilitating quarterly business meetings with departmental leaders. This role also includes serving as a backup for the Accounts Payable team and assisting in the preparation of various financial metrics periodically. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including financial statement auditors, internal auditors, legal representatives, and other agency filings, is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare month-end journal entries along with the corresponding supporting documentation.
  • Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to create monthly and quarterly flux analysis and lead related meetings.
  • Manage fixed assets, ensuring timely capitalization and disposal of assets.
  • Maintain prepaid schedules and establish recurring journal entries as necessary.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly accruals.
  • Record journal entries generated by other team members, including those related to Revenue, Inventory, Debt, COGS, and various accruals.
  • Compile and prepare requests for external and internal auditors, as well as other professional service providers.
  • Assist in the preparation of finance-related filings.
  • Conduct annual updates of process documentation.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system implementations or upgrades.
  • Act as a backup for the Accounts Payable team.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations in all areas.
  • Execute any ad hoc projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience within a publicly traded organization.
  • Familiarity with the general accounting financial close process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a commitment to achieving results.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent technical, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
