Job Summary

Eaton's IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for the successful execution of research, design, development, testing, and certification activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute product design activities in accordance with project cost and schedule constraints.
  • Develop conceptual designs into a mature product solution.
  • Manage technical risk through exhaustive identification, prioritization of risk mitigation activities, and data-driven design changes where appropriate.
  • Develop engineering standards and design guides to support continuous improvement of the relevant engineering domain.
  • Work to Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles, including careful management of Critical to Quality requirements through the design lifecycle, rigorous knowledge building of the design space, understanding of the effects of manufacturing variation, and design for manufacturing and assembly to meet product recurring cost targets.
  • Work directly with internal and external customers, suppliers, project engineers, design engineers, test engineers, sustainment engineers, Centers of Excellence, manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, program management, and other functions to develop systems and products.
  • Coach junior engineers within the incumbents specified domain.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of system, product design, development, and/or production design problem resolution experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Design for Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt.
Position Criteria
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills working with a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to work mostly autonomously but with some oversight from a technical leader or engineering manager.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration with internal and external customers.
  • Have sound problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD.
  • Strong understanding of drawing standards and application of GD&T.
