GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Engage in advanced psychological practices within the agency's Employee and Victim Support Services. Responsibilities encompass administering psychological evaluations, delivering a comprehensive suite of psychological services to agency personnel and their families, designing and executing programs, diagnosing, counseling, training, and crisis management. The role requires preparing reports and conducting special projects and research as assigned. Work is conducted with a degree of autonomy, allowing for significant initiative and independent decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct and interpret psychological assessments for various candidates, including those in recruit schools and specialized roles.
- Design and facilitate training sessions on topics such as stress management, performance enhancement, and crisis intervention to promote overall wellness within the workforce.
- Create training materials and contribute to best practice guidelines for employee support services; provide training for team members as needed.
- Offer professional and confidential short-term counseling for agency employees and their families, making referrals as necessary and conducting follow-up evaluations.
- Lead debriefing sessions following critical incidents.
- Serve as a consultant for special projects requiring psychological expertise.
- Collaborate with agency management and workgroups to address ongoing or anticipated issues, including personnel conflicts and workplace behavior concerns.
- Design programs and develop procedures for pre-employment assessments and wellness services.
- Participate in field visits to observe training for law enforcement personnel and provide feedback to enhance mental health and wellness initiatives.
- Travel as necessary to fulfill job objectives, which may include visits to multiple locations.
- Maintain regular attendance and adhere to approved work hours, with potential flexibility required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including participation in critical incident responses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.
Experience: At least one year of full-time experience in delivering direct psychological services, including crisis intervention and trauma counseling, with a successful internship in the field.
Licensure: Must hold and maintain licensure as a Psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
Knowledge: Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing psychological practice, including confidentiality and record retention.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly are required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work may be conducted in various settings, including office environments and field locations. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, and sit, along with moderate lifting requirements.
