The Role

We are seeking a Recreation Assistant to join our team in Wakefield, MA. As a Recreation Assistant, you will assist the program lead in running various recreation programs, including social outings, arts and crafts, sports, fitness, dance, swimming, bowling, cooking, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising participants, including small groups and individuals, providing 1:1 ratio if needed, and some personal care responsibilities.
  • Run programs in conjunction with existing community resources, such as the YMCA, school systems, churches/temples, city recreation departments, and Special Olympic programs.
  • Provide direct support and contact with individuals and caretakers.
  • Taking leadership responsibility in the event of an emergency, which may include calling emergency services or contacts, and providing transportation.
  • Providing personal care and assistance to individuals consistent with individual needs as they strive to reach their goals.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities or experience in a recreation or sports activity leadership position required.
  • A passion and dedication to supporting our people is a must.
  • Valid Driver's license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record required.
  • Must pass company background and reference checks.
