Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering

We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
About the Position
This is a tenure-track faculty position that will be filled at the Assistant Professor level. In exceptional cases, an untenured associate or senior faculty appointment may be possible, commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct original scholarly research, develop course materials, and teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. They will also be involved in service to MIT and the profession.
Responsibilities
- Conduct original scholarly research in chemical engineering
- Develop and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Advise students and mentor junior faculty members
- Participate in service to MIT and the profession
Requirements
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a related field by the start of employment. They should have research and teaching interests in areas relevant to the field of chemical engineering, including but not limited to:
- Chemical and electrochemical catalysis and reaction engineering
- Computational and molecular modeling
- Biomanufacturing, bioprocess engineering, or applied synthetic biology
- Process systems engineering and energy systems
- Biomedical engineering and advanced technologies for health and the environment
- Sustainability
- Materials design and engineering

They will also be assigned senior faculty mentors who will aid in their professional development, and will have discretionary funds for professional expenditures.
