Position Summary: The Facilities Operations Manager is tasked with ensuring the effective, efficient, and secure management of all parish properties, including maintenance, renovation, and safety protocols. This role involves overseeing life safety systems, alarm systems, energy management systems, and event scheduling processes. In collaboration with the Business Manager, the Facilities Operations Manager will lead and supervise all projects aimed at enhancing and maintaining the facilities. This position includes the supervision of Facility Assistants, custodial staff, contractors, and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the integrity and functionality of all mechanical and aesthetic components of parish properties. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Work closely with the pastor and business manager to create a comprehensive operational and maintenance strategy for parish properties. Oversee renovations and construction projects, acting as the primary contact for facility management initiatives. Solicit bids and contracts for external work, collaborating with the Business Manager to select the most beneficial options.
  • Perform minor repairs on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, as well as on furniture and fixtures.
  • Manage utility services and operate various systems, including life safety and energy management systems, ensuring optimal scheduling and efficiency.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the facilities, grounds, and parking areas to identify and rectify safety concerns. Ensure that fire exits and evacuation protocols are clearly documented and understood.
  • Maintain organized records for contracts, projects, inventory, and vendor information. Ensure that all necessary insurance documentation is current and compliant with diocesan standards.
  • Oversee the event scheduling system, preparing facilities for scheduled activities and ensuring readiness prior to events.
  • Respond to emergencies and facility alerts, coordinating with local emergency services as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance personnel, ensuring compliance with training requirements and operational standards.
  • Develop and manage the facility budget in collaboration with the Business Manager, monitoring expenses and ensuring timely processing of invoices.
  • Coordinate with staff to schedule maintenance and construction activities to minimize disruption to daily operations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and undertake additional projects as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • This role requires on-call availability and may involve working evenings and weekends.
  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment, with potential stress due to evolving business needs and deadlines.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, navigate various surfaces, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Skills:

  • Active participation in a Roman Catholic parish community.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with facility management software.
