Job Title: Fire Engineer

Job Summary:

Forsyth County, NC is seeking a highly skilled Fire Engineer to join our team. As a Fire Engineer, you will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, conducting fire operations, and performing technical rescues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency calls and conduct fire operations, including rescue, attack, extinguishment, salvage, and overhaul activities.
  • Conduct fire prevention inspections and investigations to identify potential fire hazards and causes.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and vehicles, including aerial devices and rescue equipment.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders, including police and medical personnel, to ensure effective response to emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports and equipment maintenance records.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in fire science or a related field preferred.
  • NC Firefighter Level I and II certification required; NC Fire Inspector Level I certification preferred.
  • EMT-B certification required; NC Technical Rescuer certification preferred.
  • Valid NC driver's license and Class B driver's license required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and supplies, and to work in confined spaces.

Working Conditions:

Fire Engineers work in a variety of environments, including emergency scenes, fire stations, and training facilities. They may be exposed to hazardous materials, extreme temperatures, and physical hazards. Fire Engineers must be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with other responders and stakeholders.
