We are seeking a skilled Building Plans Examiner to join our team in Sarasota County. As a Building Plans Examiner, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with adopted and approved building codes and national, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough reviews of building plans and specifications to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to contractors, developers, and design professionals on building practices, codes, and permitting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth permitting processes.
- Perform inspections and investigations to determine compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to building plans and permits.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in a related field, such as construction, inspection, or plans review.
- Bachelor's degree or courses in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Fire Administration, or a related field may be substituted for experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Ability to obtain a provisional license as a Building Plans Examiner within 120 days of hire and a Standard Building Plans Examiner license within one year of issuance of the provisional license.
- Competitive salary range: $29.00-$31.00 based on experience.
