POSITION SUMMARY

The SBA Credit Officer oversees the administration of the SBA credit function, ensuring adherence to policies and executing multi-loan policy SBA credit evaluations for clients associated with CM Company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops a comprehensive understanding of the SBA loan program, participates in industry training sessions, maintains internal operational protocols, and coordinates training on policy updates.

• Provides guidance to Credit Analysts regarding eligibility and underwriting standards for SBA programs.

• Manages the underwriting process across various loan policies for client credit unions, streamlining internal processes and recommending efficiency improvements.

• Reviews and advises on client credit union policies during the onboarding phase.

• Evaluates financial, credit, and operational risks in collaboration with business partners and SBA program members.

• Identifies solutions to mitigate risks associated with the SBA loan portfolio.

• Ensures regular review and necessary modifications of the SBA loan portfolio and policies.

• Engages in sales and onboarding discussions with prospective clients for CM Company.

• Exercises credit approval authority for SBA guaranteed loans.

• Assists SBA staff in reviewing documentation, eligibility for program origination, file requirements, and loan disbursements.

• Conducts final reviews of SBA credit memos before submission to clients.

• Provides support to Commercial Document Preparation for the final review of all SBA loan packages.

• Communicates changes in the SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to staff and clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory updates.

• Acts as a liaison among loan production, credit, operations, and construction teams throughout the SBA loan origination and servicing process.

• Maintains extensive knowledge of the SBA lending program, including documentation, software updates, eligibility criteria, and submission processes, updating guidelines as necessary.

• Selects, trains, and manages the performance of the SBA Credit Analyst team, overseeing work assignments and approving hiring decisions.

• Actively participates in community engagement initiatives to enhance the visibility and mission of CM Company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field combined with ten years of experience in commercial lending, including government-backed lending, and two years of supervisory or management experience; or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through a minimum of twelve years of relevant work experience.
