Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technician to join our Cardiac Team. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting the surgical team during operative procedures, ensuring the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in preparing and maintaining the surgical sterile field
  • Use specialized equipment to assist the physician in performing invasive procedures
  • Arrange and inventory sterile set-up for operation and pass items as needed to the surgical team
  • Understand and apply the principles of asepsis to establish and maintain a sterile environment
  • Assist in preparation and moving of patients
  • Assist physician in performing invasive procedures, including scrubbing in for handling guide wires, catheters, and other scrub duties as assigned
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instrumentation
  • Assist with clean-up and room turnover
  • Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images
  • Perform pre-procedural patient care activities
  • Monitor and record patient's condition and procedures' progress
  • Retrieve and review patient data
  • Operate and maintain clinical equipment
  • Participate in all safety initiatives
  • Adhere to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives
Requirements
  • Accredited Program Preferred: Surgical Technology or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist
  • Required: 2+ years of CVOR surgical technologist experience
  • Required: 2+ years of previous experience working in a hospital setting
  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs
