POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Engineer role is responsible for the upkeep and functionality of all facilities and equipment within our resort. The individual in this position will be assessed based on the condition of their designated area and equipment, the quality of work executed, and the timely completion of assigned tasks, which may include utilizing technology for documentation and reporting, responding to service requests, and performing mechanical duties. This role involves monitoring, maintaining, and repairing the hotel's systems as part of a comprehensive preventive maintenance strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform a variety of repairs and services across multiple maintenance disciplines, including but not limited to:

  • Mechanical Systems and Repairs
  • HVAC/Refrigeration
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical Troubleshooting and minor installations
  • Carpentry, Painting, and Masonry work
  • Prioritize and execute work orders efficiently to minimize disruption to guests and hotel operations.
  • Develop expertise through completion of vocational training and/or equivalent experience in a similar environment for a minimum of two years.
  • Complete all assigned preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Engage in safety programs and participate in the Emergency Evacuation Team.
  • Support ongoing training initiatives related to safety and employee development.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills in all interactions with guests, department managers, and colleagues.
  • Fulfill any additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Regular attendance is crucial for the success of this role. Irregular attendance may lead to disciplinary action. This position operates on a swing shift schedule.

Due to the variable nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to adapt their schedules based on business needs. Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is mandatory.

All employees are expected to adhere to company policies and procedures for the safe and effective operation of the resort's facilities. Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary action.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

This position may also involve performing a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time dedicated to each determined by management:
  • Provide direct assistance to guests as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:
  • Proficient in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Strong reading and writing skills to facilitate effective communication.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computational and computer skills.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate subordinate staff as necessary.
  • Problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of resort engineering operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all hotel departments.
  • Familiarity with identifying materials, parts, and tools necessary for assigned tasks.
  • Vocational training in a relevant specialty.
  • Competency in reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Willingness to assume and complete responsibilities across all shifts.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Most tasks are performed indoors, with controlled temperatures; however, the ability to work in extreme conditions is necessary.
  • Position requires mobility and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and push/pull heavier equipment as needed.
  • Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity for operating equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Experience in electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration is essential, with a minimum of five years in a related field. Certification in HVAC is required, along with knowledge of fire alarm systems and procedures. The candidate should demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to safety and teamwork.
